Formed in 1985 the Bristol Brass Consort is a symphonic brass ensemble that provides high quality performances of the established brass repertoire as well as lesser known works and new commissions.
The group is structured with a brass quintet as its core ensemble and can expand to 10 piece and larger formations depending on the repertois.
In this formation we mix the best of the original brass quintet repertoire with commissions and our own arrangements to treat audiences to a unique brand of entertainment which captivates all ages.
The ensemble has a lively repartee, touched with humour and personality, to bridge the ocean of classical formality to delight audiences in an evening of great music mixed with fun.
We can provide
full scale concerts and recitals
concert sharing with other ensembles
accompaniment to choral concerts and services
music for wedding services and receptions
background music at functions
As a 10 piece ensemble we again perform across a wide selection of musical periods and styles. Arrangements of Bach and Purcell up to The Beatles form the backbone of these concerts, which are provided in a friendly and fun atmosphere.
This is our largest formation and is normally put together every couple of years to perform specific compositions and arrangements for this sized group.
These have included
Pictures at an Exhibition
Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
Fanfare for the Common Man
Funeral March by Grieg
Festmusik der Stadt Wein
Street Song by Michael Tilson-Thomas
