The Bristol Brass Consort
Formed in 1985 the Bristol Brass Consort is a symphonic brass ensemble that aims to provide audiences with high quality performances of the established brass repertoire as well as lesser known works and new commissions.
Regarded by many as the foremost brass ensemble in the South West, the Bristol Brass Consort is certainly the most active and has also taken a significant lead in promoting the work of young local composers in it's recent series of concerts at St. George's, Bristol.
This site provides information about forthcoming concerts and events involving the Bristol Brass Consort as well as information about the group and its various activities. There is also the opportunity to hear excerpts from the ensembles debut CD "Music for Metal Instruments" and details on how to contact the group.
21 and counting. The Bristol Brass Consort comes of age
The year 2006 saw the Bristol Brass Consort become 21 years old. Although not billed as a birthday celebration, our very successful concert in May 2006 celebrated that landmark in some style with a performance of the rarely heared "Fanfare der Stadt Wien" by Richard Strauss. Remarkably, three of the original founding members are still with the consort - Paul Harris, Simon Derrick and John Cornick. And here, in somewhat less style, is an early example of the Bristol Brass Consort's matchless publicity machine in action, featuring much younger versions of Paul, Simon and John.
